Neutrogena is introducing Cloud-Tech™, a new sunscreen technology designed to combine high-level UV protection with a lighter, skincare-like texture.

Launched on September 17, 2026, the technology features bemotrizinol (BEMT), which Neutrogena describes as the first new UV filter approved by the FDA in more than 25 years. Cloud-Tech™ combines BEMT with Neutrogena’s Helioplex360™ technology to provide UVA and UVB protection.

The technology will debut in two products: Neutrogena Clear Face Sunscreen SPF 60 for acne-prone skin and Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Daily Face Sunscreen SPF 70, which includes the brand’s Micro-Peptide Technology.

Why Is This New?

One of the challenges with high-SPF sunscreens is texture. More UV filters can sometimes make formulas feel heavier or less comfortable.

Neutrogena says Cloud-Tech™ was inspired by the lightweight textures popular in K-Beauty sunscreens, aiming to create formulas that feel more like skincare while still providing high SPF protection.

The new formulas also combine sunscreen with skincare ingredients such as niacinamide, vitamin E, and peptides, depending on the product.

What It Means for Consumers

The launch reflects a growing beauty trend: sunscreen is becoming more than just UV protection.

Consumers are increasingly looking for products that combine sun protection, skincare benefits, lightweight textures, and makeup-friendly finishes in one daily product.

For consumers, the key question is no longer simply how high the SPF number is, but also whether the sunscreen is comfortable enough to use consistently every day.
